Xetra T7 production environment: Redistribution of non-DAX® instruments to new partition IDs and/or multicast addresses

Release date: 02 Dec 2020

080/2020 Xetra T7 production environment: Redistribution of non-DAX® instruments to new partition IDs and/or multicast addresses Xetra Circular 080/20

1.  Introduction

Deutsche Börse is planning to redistribute non-DAX® instruments currently located on partitions 55 to 59. The implementation of these changes will result in the following improvements for participants:

  • Optimisation of instrument distribution across all partitions
  • Instruments with the same Product Assignment Group (PAG) will be consolidated on one partition and have the same multicast addresses. For performance reasons, ETFs will continue to span more than one partition.
  • Reduction of the impact on participants during scheduled and unscheduled changes in the MDAX®, SDAX® and TecDAX® indices. Following the redistribution of the instruments, all non-DAX® German equities will reside on the same partition and have the same multicast addresses. Subsequent changes in the MDAX®, SDAX® and TecDAX® indices will no longer result in partition or multicast address changes.
  • Provide deterministic partition ID and multicast address assignment for new instruments. For example, all new instruments with the PAG = GER0 will no longer be assigned to the “Default” group on Partition 59, but will be assigned to the same partition as all other GER0 instruments on Partition 55.

2.  Required action

Depending on the set-up of a participant, reconfigurations may be required.

3.  Details

A.    Possible impact

Important note: Moving products from one partition to another may lead to a scenario where GTC/GTD orders entered and owned by one high-frequency session come to reside on two different partitions. As a high-frequency session login is always partition-specific (via a partition-specific gateway), the respective owning session needs to login to the new partition to manage orders for products which have been moved.

B.    Overview of the changes

Due to the large number of affected instruments, the changes will be implemented in five steps. An overview of the steps to be performed is provided in the table in the attachment with affected instruments and effective dates.

* A list of the specific ISINs affected in these steps named in the table will be provided separately on the Xetra website www.xetra.com under the following link:

In some cases, the affected instruments will not only receive a new partition ID, but also receive new multicast addresses for the dissemination of market data via the EMDI, EOBI and the MDI market data interfaces. A list of the Product Assignment Groups and the new multicast addresses for them can be found on the Xetra website www.xetra.com under the following link:
