Dear Xetra Members,

With this Newsflash, we would like to inform you about Deutsche Börse's 2019 Disaster Recovery Test for the Xetra T7 trading system.

1. Introduction

On Saturday, 26 October 2019, Deutsche Börse will offer a public Disaster Recovery (DR) Test for the Xetra T7 trading system, simulating a disaster scenario as described in the T7 Disaster Recovery Concept attached to this Newsflash.

2. Action required

Participation is optional but recommended for all Xetra Trading Participants in order to ensure an easy transition in case of a real disaster.

3. Details of the Xetra T7 Disaster Recovery Test

On the day of the DR Test for the Xetra T7 trading system, 26 October 2019, Eurex Exchange will participate with T7 in a world-wide DR test scenario organised by the Futures Industry Association (FIA). For further information, please refer to the following website:

https://bcp.fia.org/events/2019-fia-disaster-recovery-test

With Xetra testing on the same day, Participants trading on Xetra T7 and Eurex T7 will be able to test the DR scenarios for both markets simultaneously. This particular Xetra DR test scenario simulates an outage of the entire Equinix data centre (FR2) facility. In such a disaster recovery scenario, the Xetra infrastructure regularly used for Xetra T7 simulation will be re-used to serve as the disaster recovery production infrastructure.

During a DR test exercise, production reference data will be used, including User IDs, T7 GUI SSH keys and ETI sessions. Changes done to reference data will not be copied back to production after the test. It is NOT advisable to perform any changes to this data during the test exercise.

While order entry, modification and deletion will be possible during the DR test exercise, any order book or trading information created during the DR test exercise will NOT be transferred back to production.

The following Xetra T7 interfaces will be available during the DR test exercise:

  • T7 Trader-, Controller- and Admin-GUI
  • Enhanced Transaction Interface (ETI)
  • Xetra Market Data Interface (MDI)
  • Xetra Enhanced Market Data Interface (EMDI)
  • Enhanced Order Book Interface (EOBI) – new
  • Reference Data Interface (RDI)
  • Reference Data File (RDF) from production - provided by CTS on request
  • Common Report Engine (CRE)

Customers participating in the DR test exercise can expect to receive market data via MDI, EMDI and EOBI, can read reference data via RDI or request the RDF from Customer Technical Support (CTS). Order and quote entry will be possible via ETI and Trader GUI.

The following Xetra T7 interfaces will NOT be available during the DR test exercise:

  • Extended Market Data Service
  • FIX Trading Interface

The Xetra legacy trading system Börse Frankfurt (MIC: XFRA) and CCP will not be participating in the DR test exercise.

Please refer to the attached document “T7 Disaster Recovery Concept – Interface Configuration Details” for further details on the test scenario and all required network changes.

The document is also available on the Xetra website www.xetra.com under the following link:

After the DR test is completed, the regular production environment will be made available for a certain time to allow Trading Participants to adapt their configurations.
