015/2020 Coronavirus (COVID-19), trading from emergency locations/alternative premisesXetra Circular 015/20

In the context of events that might occur in connection with the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), we would like to remind you that in case of an emergency, Trading Participants may also participate in exchange trading at Frankfurter Wertpapierbörse (FWB, the Frankfurt Stock Exchange) outside their registered and approved trading locations (§§ 34 Paragraph 2 Clause 5, 86 Paragraph 10 of the Exchange Rules for the Frankfurter Wertpapierbörse).

In particular, such an emergency exists as soon as a Trading Participant is prevented from continuing orderly participation in exchange trading from its approved trading location because of preventive measures, unusual illness rate or sovereign measures (e.g. quarantine, access limitations issued by authorities).

If, as a result of such emergency, a Trading Participant decides to make use of the facility to participate in exchange trading at FWB from outside its registered and approved trading location(s), the following information is to be submitted informally and without delay to the Management Board:

  • description of the Trading Participant's individual emergency situation
  • concrete designation of the alternative premises from which trading is conducted
  • expected duration of the measure

The Trading Participant must ensure that orderly exchange trading is at no time jeopardised by participation in exchange trading at FWB outside its registered and approved trading location(s). They must always comply with the applicable exchange regulations, in particular those of the Exchange Rules for the Frankfurter Wertpapierbörse and the Conditions for Transactions on the Frankfurter Wertpapierbörse.

It is expressly pointed out that the Management is entitled to issue further instructions in specific individual cases in order to ensure orderly conduct of exchange trading (§ 15 Paragraph 4 of the German Stock Exchange Act).
